This year’s Super Bowl brought companies another chance to sell themselves in a whole host of creative ways.
Tortilla chip brand Tostitos may just have won the award for creativity and public service message, though.
The snack company, part of PepsiCo’s subsidiary Frito Lay , launched a limited production brethaliser bag of chips to reduce drink driving the day of or after one of the United States’ biggest sporting events.
The “Party Safe” bag contained actual chips and a hole, which potential drivers were invited to blow into. If any alcohol was detected and LED steering wheel on the front turned red along with a message saying “Don’t drink and drive”. It even gave users an Uber code to help them get home.
To complete the package, Goodby Silverstein & Partners, the advertising firm behind the limited edition product, produced an emotive ad explaining why the bag wasn’t simply a gimmick.
